Let God In

Sitting today for meditation outside in my backyard is so extraordinary. The hummingbird buzzing around, a clear representation of God’s perfection in creation. They don’t flaunt or work at this perfection, they just be what they be- and they’re perfect. So then if that is a truth why is it that human beings feel the need to mess with perfection? Why do you feel like your input is needed to make the world better? God is working his magic as he always is– through people who paint masterpieces, who wrote great scores, who invent things and simply who allow Him to work through them. It’s not for them striving, it’s because they let God in. So let him in. Practice nonresistance. If instances happen in your life, if people present themselves, this happens for your perfection. They are here to teach you so that you can drop that vestige of power and relinquish that authority that was never yours to begin with. Only through these lessons, through such people can you learn the lessons your Soul inhabited this body to learn. Disallow ego. Recognize that in your complete surrender is your greatest success. Trust that the ego-busting exercises are here so that you can drop into your true self and finally once and for all eliminate any pretenses and be who you are meant to be and all you are meant to be. All you need to do toward that end is to meditate and allow. Practice non interference. Practice love for yourself and recognize that it’s not your will. It’s God’s Will that you are executing in this lifetime and in others to come.

Love writing about food and travel (www.thegalavantinggastronome.com) and my conversations with God (https://gitanjali.yoga). Born and raised in India. Sailor's daughter. Travel is in my DNA. Married to a scientist, who is a chemist professionally and in every other culinary way. Food, coffee, cocktails, BBQ, smoked meats, rubs, sauces...he experiments with it all - with way more wins than misses. We love the outdoors. Hiking, kayaking and camping make us happy. We are equal opportunity foodies. We love hole-in-the-wall little mom and pop places, and multi-coursed Michelin star meals as well. And, we love talking about what we love about the food, drink, coffee and anything else we get to try.
